This is the true story of Freddy and Walter, two young Slovak Jews who were deported to Auschwitz camp in 1942. On April 10, 1944, after careful planning and with the help and resilient inmates, they managed to escape. When the detainees, whom they had left behind, courageously stood up to the Nazi officers, the two men were motivated by the hope that their testimony could save lives. Wretched and wounded, they crossed the mountains to Slovakia. Encouraged by chance encounters, they eventually crossed the border and met the resistance and the Red Cross. They compiled a detailed report on the systematic genocide in the camp. However, with Nazi propaganda and international connections still present, their story seems too heartbreaking to be believable.
