Nicholas Garrigan, a Scottish physician who recently graduated from the University of Edinburgh, flew to Uganda to work at a mission clinic run by Dr. David Merrit and his wife Sarah. Soon, Garrigan met the new president, General Edie Amin, and had a direct sympathy for him from the start. It happened for a reason: After a while, Idi Amin invited Nicholas to be his doctor and modernized the Ugandan healthcare system - this was a once-in-a-lifetime offer that doctors couldn't refuse. Yet more and more Garrigan finds himself trapped in Edie Amin's brutal and arrogant moral abyss, putting his soul in jeopardy. When Nicholas finally plucked up the courage to escape the madness, he found himself embroiled in a desperate struggle to survive.
